What to check before hiring a team you have never met.
Hiring a development team on the other side of the world is a legitimate thing to be careful about. Here is exactly what PSEB registration means, how our NDA and IP transfer process works, and which compliance standards we actually build to.
Formally registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board since 2025. Karachi HQ, with a US presence as well.
Signed before any code, credentials, or business information is shared. No exceptions, regardless of project size.
Source code, designs, and documentation belong to you on completion. No retained access, no lock-in.
Standards we build to, scoped to what your project needs.
GDPR
EU data protection and privacy handling.
XRechnung & ZUGFeRD
EU B2B electronic invoicing standards.
SCEP & EST
Certificate enrollment protocols for PKI infrastructure.
OWASP Top 10
Application security baseline on every build.
PDF/A-3
Long-term document archival format compliance.
Questions we get before contracts are signed.
What is PSEB registration, and why does it matter?
PSEB is the Pakistan Software Export Board, the government body that registers and regulates IT export companies. Registration means Softechies operates as a formally recognised, tax-compliant software export business, not an informal freelance operation. For a client abroad, it is one of the concrete signals that you are dealing with a real, accountable company rather than an individual you have no recourse with.
When exactly do we sign an NDA?
Before any project details, code, credentials, or business information are shared. The NDA is standard practice, not an optional add-on, and applies to every engagement regardless of size.
How does IP and source code transfer actually work?
You receive full ownership of source code, architecture, designs, and documentation on completion. Repository access is transferred to accounts you control, not accounts we retain access to. There is no retained license, no dependency on our infrastructure to keep running, and no vendor lock-in clause.
What compliance standards do you actually build to?
Depending on the project: GDPR for EU data handling, XRechnung and ZUGFeRD for EU B2B e-invoicing, SCEP and EST for certificate enrollment protocols, OWASP Top 10 for application security, and PDF/A-3 for long-term document archival. We scope which standards apply during discovery rather than applying all of them everywhere by default.
Where is the team based, and how does communication work across time zones?
Our team operates from Karachi, Pakistan, with a US presence as well. We work async-first specifically because of the time zone spread with US, UK, German, and Canadian clients — written updates and documented decisions mean a project keeps moving without requiring everyone awake at the same time.
What happens if something goes wrong after launch?
Every engagement includes 30 days of post-launch support after deployment. Beyond that window, we offer ongoing support arrangements rather than disappearing once the invoice is paid — most of our business comes from repeat clients, which only happens if support after launch is actually reliable.
Still have questions before you commit?
Ask us directly. We would rather answer a hard question up front than have you find out the answer the hard way mid-project.
